UK FCA launches campaign to raise awareness of motor finance compensation scheme
12 September 2025The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has announced a GBP1 million public awareness campaign regarding its proposed motor finance compensation scheme. The campaign aims to inform consumers that they do not need to engage claims management companies (CMCs) or law firms to access redress, potentially saving them up to 30% of any compensation awarded. The FCA has taken regulatory action against misleading promotions, requiring CMCs to amend or remove 396 advertisements since January 2024. A formal consultation on the scheme is expected in early October, with potential compensation payments commencing in 2026.
