ESAs and AMLA sign MoU to strengthen EU AML supervision
3 July 2025The European Supervisory Authorities (the European Banking Authority, European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority and European Securities Markets Authority—the ESAs) have announced the signing of a multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) (dated 27 June) with the European Union's Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA). The agreement establishes a framework for effective cooperation and information exchange among the four institutions. The MoU outlines practical arrangements for collaboration, aiming to enhance supervisory convergence across the EU's financial sector. It also seeks to facilitate the sharing of relevant information, promote cross-sectoral learning and support capacity building in areas of mutual interest. The agreement is a key component of the AMLA's broader cooperation framework with the financial sector, as required under Article 91 of the AMLA Regulation, which mandates the conclusion of a multilateral MoU with the ESAs by 27 June.
